Palos Hills has a lot of large condo and apartment complexes, many in the Moraine Valley Community College vicinity. We have no connection to the college; we mention it because it is a common landmark for the buildings people move between. Shared parking, stairwells and association rules set the tone here.
01Big complexes, many buildings
Large complexes can have several identical buildings on a loop road. Give us the exact building number and the entrance closest to your unit, and if possible the lot that is nearest. Crews lose time hunting for the right door.
If your complex uses a gate or key fob, arrange access for the crew or plan to meet us at the entrance.
02Student-season and lease timing
Some renters time moves around semesters or summer schedules. If you are moving at the same time as many neighbors, elevators and lots fill up. Ask the office whether certain days are already busy and choose another if you can.
03Condo association checklist
Ask about move hours, required notice, elevator padding or reservation, and where the truck may park. Some associations also want to know the moving date in advance for security. Keep a copy of the rules and send them with your estimate request.
Remember the storage locker and any bike room items.
04Light moves for small spaces
Studios and one-bedrooms do not always need a full crew and truck. If you rent your own truck, labor-only help can load and unload while you drive. Check the Pricing page for how crew rates work.
05Moving out of a condo you sold
Sellers have extra deadlines: the closing date, a final walkthrough and handing over keys and fobs. Schedule the move a day or two before closing if you can, so you have time to clean and fix small things. Ask the association whether the buyer’s move-in and your move-out can be on the same day; some buildings only allow one move at a time.
Take photos of the empty unit and the hallways after the move, just in case questions come up.
06Hand-me-down furniture
Some condo moves include passing furniture to family nearby. Rather than storing it, plan a second stop for those pieces. We will drop them at a relative’s home as part of the day if you list the address in advance.
07Furniture that fits a condo
Condo rooms can be smaller than the house you came from, and storage closets are limited. Measure balconies, closets and bedroom walls before moving day. Anything that will not fit is better sold, donated or delivered to family ahead of time than carried up and back down.
If you want new flat-pack furniture for the smaller space, our assembly help can put it together once the main move is done.
